Apparently State Senator Kevin De Leon in California initiated a new bill that would render all airsoft guns that are not clearly distinguishable from real firearms illegal. Therefore each airsoft gun would need to be either completely coloured in bright white, red, blue, green or other neon colours, or be made out of transparent materials to clearly show the internal mechanism.
However in the newest version of bill SB 798 the text regarding these colours have been struck out, meaning that either this bill is now supposed to ban airsoft guns, here referred to as "BB devices", altogether or that this passage is simply not necessary as neon coloured airsoft guns would not be considered as "imitation firearms" anyway.
But either way, if this bill becomes actual law, this means a huge setback for airsoft in generall, especially regarding the possibility that other states might follow.
On Capinsider.com it is mentioned that the bill passed the Senate Public Safety Committee on a 5-2 vote on April, 26th. However as we do not know the american procedures to pass new laws, we are not quite sure about the importance or meaning of said vote, but it looks like this is not the final decision yet.
We will keep you up-to-date as soon as we know more!
